First Grade

Caroline started first grade last week.

It ended the best summer ever for us.

However, we all agreed it was time.  We are ready for routine and fall.

 I introduced Nana to pinterest 3 weeks ago.

I am not sure she has done anything since....

It lead to the sweet idea above and my kid eating cake for breakfast before school.

 She requested her hair be curled and she picked out this sassy dress!

Yaya and Bob mailed her the dress!

It is kind of a Hunt tradition, along with the first day of school video, that the grandparents buy the back to school outfit.  Last year she was in Indiana and Yaya bought her the first day of kindergarten outfit.

This one had to be shipped.  So we try on the dress 2 days before school....she loves it, is great, however it is a little wrinkled from the shipping.  SO I did what all good Hunt women do...I threw it in the dryer to "knock the wrinkles out"  I think it shrunk it a tad... if that is possible.  When we put the dress on the first day of school there was a tad bit of drama over those sleeves "cutting off her circulation"  I told you all of that to tell you this.... those sleeves are cut my friends!  I took a pair of scissors to the armpit area and sliced them right up so her little arms could move.  She looked at me for a second like I was going to hell and then quickly decided that I was indeed the coolest mother ever.

 Let's do this!

Henry County Fair

We hit the fair twice this year.

First as a family, then with some pals!

 Fair Food is a must.

 I enjoy the lemon shake-up twice a year!

$5 for the big cup with a $3 refill - yes please!

 We enjoyed an assortment of food (and faces) before hitting the rides.

 Chip rode them all!

He is a good sport.

 I rode the flying bobsled - several times.

It is really the only ride that doesn't make me dizzy anymore!

I am getting old and lame.

 Yes I ate it.  Don't judge me!

Friday we hit the midway with some pals

 BAM, CJ and Amelia were pumped to ride too!

 These two are continuing their fair tradition.

 I told H man it wasn't so long ago (4 years to be exact) that I drug his mother and BAM to the fair.

I explained that if it weren't for me he would not be here today.

BAM piped up and said "you saved us" yes I did BAM!

I am not the only one of my friends that will spend this kind of money on sugar water!

 My flying bob partner - I was dumped by my own kid.

Another fish!

Camping & Floating

Last weekend we visited the Buffalo River Resort to camp and canoe.

 Here is the extra large buffalo to prove we were there!

We went with the Hills, the Grooms, the Perrys and the Kees

 After arriving the kids did some exploring..

 They also did some mini four wheeler riding!

 In their pajamas!

After much gourmet lunch preparation by the women...we were ready!

PS- In case I forget to mention later my bologna and pb&j sandwiches were AMAZING!

 I am not sure we had enough kids!

But they had an awesome time and were all very good considering we were on the water for 6 hours!

Courtland & Callie represented the teen division. Olivia, Emma, Campbell, Lily, Caroline, Mary Kate and Audrey rocked the kid division. While Wiley, Lee and Garvin brought up the precious/falling asleep on the water division!

Chip and Craig managed to stay away from my camera most of the day!

 Ahhh there are our men folk!

They wanted to row without us you wonder... indeed.

It is a long story but we tried out the yellow rafts to avoid flippage for the children.

But they did not have enough for all of us so Shelli and I took the kids in the raft and sent the men folk in the canoe.  Thinking that we were soooo smart.  Lets just say that the kids ended up in the canoe with their fathers, while Shelli and I got hung on almost everything possible.  It sounds bad, but it was really fun! 

 The super fun part was parking and playing in the river.

After all the river fun we headed back to camp.

 I whipped up this amazing meal!

Corn on the cob, bacon wrapped artichokes, steaks....

Oh wait.  The Kees did that... my family ate hot dogs.

 There was a hot hues party!

 We toasted some marshmallows and passed out!

On Sunday we woke up and celebrated 12 years of marriage!

We also packed the camper, rode home, did 6 loads of laundry and laid around in our jammies!

I have no idea what I even fed him for dinner.  But I couldn't think of a better way to celebrate our anniversary than spending the weekend with good friends, doing fun family stuff!
